3. Creating a grid system.

To quickly create a grid system on any size document, you can use the guides initially to layout the positioning.

In this example we are using an A4 document and we want a grid system of 45mm square.

The default for any measurement in a new document starts from the bottom left hand corner. Reposition the starting point using the zero-point marker found on the upper-left corner of the document window when Page Rulers are turned on if you need to.
This can be done by dragging the "cross-hairs" to a new location on the document.

Next, open the guides palette [VIEW/GUIDES/EDIT]

Click the ADD button, select the HORIZONTAL option, then the INCREMENT option and insert your grid height (45mm).

    Then click ADD

The Add Guides palette will then close

Click the ADD button again and select the VERTICAL option and repeat the increment as shown

Now you should have a set of guides on your document in the required position of your grid

SHIFT - SELECT all the guides as shown and then hit the RELEASE button

This should turn all the guides into paths which you can then place onto a grid layer and style

Please send your tips in so we can all share them and hopefully make life that much easier.
